Chapter 11

Is the earth round or flat?

Question of active reading.

1.I would say it does! it has questions of interpretation, analysis and evaluates; this are really important things that this text has and i would say that its good that it has them because this is a type of text that needs all this type of information and it needs an argument and prove.
This text has as well syntactic meaning because of the content, description and connections.
2.I think they would, and i would say that they want the audience to know that he's a scientist because it makes it see like he knows what he's talking about, and i think if it was somebody else that we knew that it was not a scientist we probably take the text or article like just a reading and it wouldn't be taking serious.
3.
  • Paragraph 10: "i suspect that they're quite of few items you take on faith, even important thing you could verify without much trouble"
  • Paragraph 5: "with little scrabbling on a piece of paper you an see that those observations imply around earth."
  • Paragraph 7: " there is no question that many people believe the earth was round, i wonder how many knew this"

In the ones i picked he's tone is kind of sarcastic and no serious at all .and sometimes when you read this it makes you think that the way he says the stuff is an a tone that shows that he is jealous or has envy or what others did and he didn't
