Everything happens for a reason.

Project #2

"Everything happens for a reason"
Personally I think everything happens for a reason. Everything that goes on day-to-day has a purpose. Human beings were created by God or whoever you believe, and we may not know the reason why we were created, but we know we were. For me the reason is something that I’m unsure of.

Others believe the reason to be forgiveness. Some people say that everything happens for a reason, because you can forgive and let go. If things go wrong you can learn from your mistakes and appreciate the next time you don’t make the same; one of my closes friends, had something like this, she let herself go with her feelings and in the moment she looked up, she knew that everything was not going well, after this she try to pick up and the only thing she said in the end was: “everything happens for a reason, it’s always something better to come. You know” it’s amazing! How a simple quote can make yourself feel better and make you think that something else is going to make a big change in your life.

When a close friend lies to you and you believe their lie but later find out it was false, you’re not going to believe them the next time they tell you something.
Sometimes things can fall apart and you feel as if nothing will ever be right again, but you don’t know if things fell apart to make way for new and better things. There is a reason behind everything. Like when you buy a car. You were thinking in the most amazing car, the most expensive, but instead you had to get a used car, which you have paid off. Probably you weren’t happy with what you got, but, what happen if you lose your job? How are you going to pay this expensive car that you were thinking to get? Why don’t think and realize that things have a purpose to be, why not take advantage of it?

People think that when you meet someone, it’s because of fate and that if you can feel a connection, then you’ll know that something is going to happen and things are going to change. Life brings many new opportunities and it’s just a matter of which ones you choose to take. Maybe that person is going to show you how to do something important that you were unable to do before, or teach you a lesson that would help you find out who you really are or what you want to be. Jordan gave me a really good example of this. Her boyfriend it’s not next to her like it was before, they know each other for long time, and they been together as well for a long period, they believe that things happen for a reason, they think this distance, yes. Is hard, but it’s going to make the relationship stronger and united and make each of them mature and ready for bigger things coming between both of them and the relationship.

When you’re hurt or when things may seem horrible you can’t even imagine there being a reason for things to be so awful. Overcoming obstacles makes you come out as a better person. It’s one more thing you were able to overcome. With overcoming obstacles comes personal strength and will power.
Andrew (friend) has a really interesting experience with this, He was a really attractive young boy and when he was 15 years old he got in a car accident and he lost one of his legs. in the beginning was really hard for him, and he always thought that life was been unfair with him, and he also said that having only one leg was going to make him different from everybody else. But when he put himself together and put his head up, realize that it was only a part of his body which could be replace, he took a new path, he was a different person, he got a wife an amazing job and he’s almost finishing college and the funny part is that only his closes friends know that he’s missing his leg. This experience make him realize that the body it’s not everything in you, that you have to appreciate everything around and not only superficial stuff. Since then he knows that this change, happen for a reason to show him a different way to look around and himself.

Some people think that everything happens for a reason and that nothing happens by a chance. If you have really good luck, if you’re in love, if you got hurt or your sad everything is a result of fate and that you were destined to feel a certain way at a certain time because of a certain action.Other people think that everything happens for a reason because if nothing didn’t happen in life, where would we be today? Life would be meaningful. Or we wouldn’t know what our world would be like.
People that believe that Things Happen For a Reason, are the ones that believe in new things, beginnings, endings and changes, people that are open mind it and the ones who always have solutions for everything that goes by. But people that don’t believe in it are the ones that think about destiny. They believe in a predetermined event, future, and something that is fixed by natural order. They don’t have an open mind, they don’t look for solutions, and they want everything to come to them like that life would be easier.

Others think there is always a reason behind falling in love. Being in love and giving that person your heart is an amazing feeling. Some may say its fate and others may not but I think it happens for a reason. If something happens and you lose that person you’re in love with, there is a reason behind it. Whether you agree with the reason or not, there is always a reason. Others think that this is true because everything that happens does something valuable and it come out because is what you need. Every little thing that happens offers wonderful gifts and big opportunities. Me as example, when I was 15 my grandmother pass away, I got crazy in the beginning, because I couldn’t believe that God would take my mother away from me. But my father was always telling me, “Things Happen For a Reason, wait for it and you’ll see” he always believe! And when I start believing I realize that she was in a better place and that she would always watch me no matter where I’m, this teach me to grow up and be mature, to change the way I used to think and realize that everything comes and goes, but it has a meaning to be.

My father believes that everything happens for a reason, but because God wants’ it that way, he believes that God is the one that controls everything around and that he put this quote in our minds to have an explanation of all the things that happen in the world, because he believes that God knows that humans need something to go with to believe on him.

I would say that I believe that there is a reason behind everything that happens, and I would say that most of the people believe on this as well. Because is an explanation of all the thing that happen even if is good or bad, just like my dad was saying, probably some people would not take it as God but this “ Everything Happens For a Reason” is a way to say: “Something New Is Coming”.

Something really funny about this quote is that we say it only when something bad happens and when we knew that something better it’s going to come, if you read back or if you hear someone saying this, is always for something bad or something not as good as they expected to be. So for me this means that all of us who believe in “Everything Happens For a Reason” are the ones who have this amazing idea of the light in the end of the tunnel, or a new beginning or a something better it’s going to come and its going to be a new me or a new life, definitely a new start. And I would like to change the quote to “Everything Happens for a Reason, because better things are to come”.

Why I Want a Wife.

Why I want a wife:
1. This text really describes what a wife should be and I guess what wives were at that time. This text makes me think in the type of wife that I want to be, and I would love to be like that, because I think now day’s wives are not being like this, yes. They may have some of the things that the text have but know, they don’t stay home and I think I would not be able to do that either, sometimes mother don’t have the full time to spend with the kids so that’s why the go to day care, it’s a lot of different things that now day’s we don’t do anymore I don’t think because we don’t want to is just because the time changes.

2. Sometimes she forgets to put commas and she does some run-ons, but I do the same thing sometimes, I still try to change that every time I write, and her tone in the text sounds like kind of funny .like yeah she wants’ that but at the same time she sounds like it’s too much.

3. Unfair right now. I can’t really find something unfair, right now everything in my life is pretty good and nothing is unfair probably in other families or places but I think in here everybody has the right to stop doing what they don’t want to do. I think if you’re married both but if your divorce the one who has the baby is the one with probably more benefits.

Chapter 8

Chapter 8:
The inheritance of tools:
Question for active reading:
1. Yes I can picture him cutting everything and measuring everything, he really specifies how he’s cutting everything, he gives examples, and he even told us how to hold the hummer and how to use it in the right way.

2. He use chronological threw the whole text. Sometimes is really confusing that it even made me go back and read the text again, it’s really a jumping text it doesn’t goes in just one time and tells you what you want to know about the text.
Having a time line in the text is helpful at the same time. When he is giving you all the details, because in that way you can really understand what’s going on with the story and the prentices that he uses are helpful as well because he gives the characters a voice.

3. Dawn stones: they’re unworked rocks that served as the earliest hammers. They were used for grinding corn, tapping awls, smashing bones. And he thinks that is a great leap in type but no a great distance in design or imagination and he thinks that this type historical are pressure to look and hold.

Question for Thinking Critically:

1. I think is that everything has to look perfect and with a good cut. It’s like a table if this it’s not even or plane it would not be a table. It’s like do everything right.
2. I think it would me masculine because he’s taking like a proud personality and a way of power with the tool, I think it would have both of them a knowledge and a skill. Being a carpenter has a lot of knowledge but you need skill like that you can show what you know and how to do it.
In my family we all like to draw a lot of stuff so I guess that would be our skill. To my kids if I ever have some, I really don’t know that’s something that I guess you can’t teach it’s something that you see and if you like it you get.

3. I think he’s grief at this point would be a feminine, because he’s kind of desperate and is trying to look for a answer desperately and he kind find it so I guess it’s like a whiney way.

In the News # 5

hype is something that we're going to find everytime!

publicity is something that every product and everything that humans consume has. splenda will probably be something really good for you but after this article you kind of think about it and like its something that for myself i use everyday! so its kind of hard for me, i think moderation on everything is they key! its like eating if you eat to much your gonna gain weight and if you dont eat your gonna get sick not skiny!

that's why with splenda moderation would be a good clue. like me before i used like 3 bag of splenda in my coffee, now i guess i would have to use 1. and if i can give a solution to this i would ask the company to dont put all that amount or all does different types of trasfusions to the sugar, it may be not as sweet as before but it would help all the consummers and as well their company.

In the News. "Splenda"

Splenda!!

http://www.karlloren.com/Diabetes/p40a.htm

Substitute for sugar. is it safe?

A new Splenda Study put out by Duke University is sure to cause a stir. Adding fuel to the fire was this headline from a press release issued by an organization calling themselves the “Citizens for Health”…
“Chairman of Citizens for Health Declares FDA Should Review Approval of Splenda
New Study of Splenda and Sucralose Reveals Shocking New Information About Potential Harmful Effect on Humans”
Duke Study Highlights This 12 week study, conducted in rats fed Splenda-containing “rat chow”, revealed a 50% reduction in “good” bacteria, an increase in intestinal pH, and enhanced expression of enzymes that affect drug metabolism. According to the “Citizens for Health” this study also suggests that Splenda “contributes to increases in body weight.”

Why should we be concerned about “good bacteria?” These beneficial bacteria including those that are commonly referred to as probiotics have been associated with anticancer benefits, cholesterol reduction, and strengthened gut immunity. Having not read the study other than the abstract, it’s difficult for me to figure out how they came to the conclusion Splenda leads to weight gain. I have reported previously that sugar substitutes may short circuit the taste conditioning response leading to increased consumption and weight gain.

It should come as no surprise that an artificial sweetener may have harmful, or potentially harmful effects. Splenda may be the sequel to the transfat story…. and we all know how that turned out.
I will also add this. Splenda is a favorite of many low-carb fans because it cuts calories in processed foods. But the calorie savings can be deceiving.. If you make a muffin with Splenda instead of sugar you can reduce the calories by about 20% . You can also save an equivalent amount of calories by alternatively reducing the fat in a recipe. So yes, you can realize some calorie savings in processed foods by cutting carbs or cutting fat. However, you can’t change the fact that processed foods are very calorie dense. My advice is to stick with real food and limit processed food consumption.

Splenda and Sweet'N Low:

The active ingredient in Splenda starts as pure cane sugar but is chemically altered to create a compound that contains no calories, according to McNeil. The final product contains no sugar.
The one-month trial focused mostly on Splenda's advertising slogan, but it ended in a settlement after the jury said it had reached a verdict Friday afternoon.

Settlement talks began after jurors asked the judge for a calculator and a white board, an indication that they were computing damages to be awarded to Merisant. Lawyers rushed to the courtroom to try to delay the jury's announcement and then huddled in a courthouse meeting room.

McNeil's own consultants said its slogan confused potential customers, some of whom thought that Splenda was sugar without the calories, Merisant's attorneys said. McNeil rejected a plan to add the phrase "does not contain sugar" to the front of Splenda's yellow box, which might have cleared up the confusion, Merisant said.

Because the manufacturing of Splenda begins with sugar, McNeil can accurately claim that Splenda is "made from" sugar, according to its attorneys.
Splenda is used in more than 4,000 food and drink products and is included in recipes at numerous chain restaurants.

It had 60 percent of the consumer artificial sweetener market last year, according to the research firm Information Resources Inc. Equal, which comes in blue packets and is made with aspartame, and Sweet'N Low, in pink packets and made with saccharin, each held about 14 percent of the consumer market.

QUESTION!!

  • How do you feel about having all this publicity about splenda?, how does this affect you?

  • how many times a day do you think people or even yourself uses splenda as a sweetener?
  • do you think moderation is the key? do you think this may help the "good bacteria"?

  • if it was in your hands the solution, what would you do?

TESTING CANCER:

mother try to take care of their ladies because they don't want to worry about everything that they been threw when they were little. This mother know how it feel to have Brest cancer, but doctors said that genes are always there, and till they don't turn the correct age they can really do nothing or tell if they have it or not in a dangerous way

Testing the kids it's good. i think its a really good way to know how to control the problem and how to take care of it. sometimes its way to control the problem, but at the same time this can cause different types of issues that will need to be treated with other drugs.

At the biggining it can be a little bit scary to get test and wait for the results but it's really good to have hands up of the problem.

Journal #4

Inventing the university
By David Bartholomew.

1. What does it mean “invent the university”?

· I think it means to create, put a mining, learn, write, and speak their language and how to see what they want to see, give your personal voice.

What does Bartholomew suggest is a way for students to become “insiders” within academic discourse?

· Insiders in an academic discourse are the ones who can speak and write having knowledge and a extended number of ideas.it can be also be able to do research and be aware about the things your looking for.

3. Summarize.
· The first kid was telling a story about creativity and how he made all the students change their opinions, just because he put out a new idea that it seems to look good. This story it’s really simple and boring it didn't have something that was trying to call the reader’s attention and like Bartholomew was saying it did not have those aggressive parts that all the reader’s always look for.

he does not have a insider. he just talks in something that happen but not in something that he really look for.

· The second text. it’s kind of interesting, but still, for me this is not the type of writing that caught my attention , but anyway it has really good, structure it’s concise she used good terms she explains herself really well, she does not takes proud of everything, which for me it’s really important to not be the hero all the time. And Bartholomew thinks that’s pretty good it could be done better but it’s a good text.

she takes time looking for repond and that's what writing its about, you have to keep re-thinking.

And he still thinks that the first writer has to improve hems speech and writing and use the creativity a little bit more.

The sixth myths about creativity:
Questions for Active Reading:

1. Describe the 6 myths.

· Money it’s a creative motivator: people it’s more creative when they care of what they’re doing, if they enjoy and like what they do, they would do it with love and getting something from it. And money it something that everybody likes and its suppose to do what they like to get some of it.

· Time pressure fuels creativity: sometimes when the person feels under too much pressure, the creativity gets stock and they can’t work in the way they wanted to. Sometimes to be creative we have to take time and relax even get enough sleep to concentrate because if we don’t have concentration we can create and be creative.

· Fear forces breakthroughs: when our soul its happy and satisfy our ideas are going in to our brain and sending happy signals that re going to help us to be creative and be happy, but if our body its feeling unsatisfied and incomplete sometimes it’s really hard to think in something new and better that the idea that we have before, so this means that creativity goes with your mood and they way your body its feeling.

· Competition beats collaboration: sometimes at work or even at school, it’s good to share ideas with others and do an amazing brain storms. But when the person realize that the ideas that he/she has are better and can get better proud of it he is going to stop sharing and its going to start taking as a selfish, but what they don’t know is that two brains work better that one.

· A streamlined Organization I s a Creative Organization: I didn’t really understand this one but I think is like if you don’t like to work with other leaders you get uncomfortable and your creativity its’ going to go down.

2. What was interesting about the research:

· What was really interesting about her research was that she was trying to look for all the different ways that people develop at work, the differences, the qualities the ideas and the most important think that she enfaces in is creativity. But everything it’s around work environment.

3. Who is the audience?

· I think is for everybody. But especially for the ones who have or had a job. Like that they can see and realize something that they may never think before, because me, personally I would never imagine that creativity its around my work environment.

Questions for Thinking Critically:

1. Business and Science

· What business and science have in common is that they always work together; every time something comes up they try to solve it. The difference between them is that science does not keep the ideas or nothing that they discover for themselves they always shares everything with the world and they tell everybody if it’s something new or not. But business is selfish and if they know that something is good and they know that no one else can come with something like that they will not share it if is not with the big boss.

2. My myth of creativity:

· Fear forces breakthroughs: this is the one that I identify the most because am the type of person that really changes of mood all the time, sometimes you can see me happy and in the other time you can see me with this really long face.
This is something that really affects my creativity because when am not feeling good my ideas get stock or maybe they kind of go out but they’re not as good as if I was in a good mood.

3. Strategies:

· Establish a creative environment: This is something really important when you’re trying to be creative because this has a base to take away and let go everything that is bothering you, and like the text says “You may need a private place to work without distractions. You have to find the environment best situated to your own creative process. “Another really important thing is the people that you’re with. You have to look for people that are really friendly and mind open like that they can give you fresh ideas and amazing opportunities to find something new and better that what you had before. So. Mr. Alan I think you ha establish pretty well what happen when you have really open mind which is full with creativity, but if at any time you find that place that you say you like uncomfortable just try to look for another one that it would probably make you feel better.

CLONING:

steam cell research, i dont think its bad at all. but depending on wich point of view you put it in, it may be. This would be a really good thing for exprimenting in cells or cloning cells instead of exprimenting in animals or humans.

cloning its not a thing that God was looking for to us to look for, but everything has a purpose in this life so why not. It may be not the solution to so many medical problems but it may be the solution to stop exprimenting in human beings.

Cloning its something that if we dont know how to used it right, can get the whole world in big trouble, maybe that's why we haven't get the whole purpose of cloning in the human life.

This I Believe

· I believe in forgiveness, and that if you love your friends and family, you should be able to easily forgive them for their mistakes.
Sometimes things happen and you feel as if there is no way you could ever forgive them. Sometimes people hurt you in a way that you are unable to just forgive and forget. It doesn’t have to be physical pain, sometimes verbal abuse is worse than actual abuse.

When I was a little girl, my family and friends treated me like I was nothing. They constantly talked down to me and sometimes made me feel like there was nothing left to live for. My friends didn’t love me for who I was, and they treated me like I was nothing. I didn’t want to look them in the face still being the same person I am. My family used to tell me how stupid and useless I was. I didn’t want to sit at the table and just act as if nothing had happened. How could I look someone in the eye and act as if nothing had happened after they made me feel worthless? When they said things like that, I really did feel worthless and began to not care anymore. That’s exactly what I did! I didn’t care if I was eating, throwing up, or sleeping. Nothing mattered to me and when I stopped caring about myself, I got really sick. I had appendicitis.

When my friends found out that I was in the hospital, they started to come over to say “Hi” and they were being really nice to me. I remember one of my friends Yesid, came to my house with this huge sunflower and he said, “I’ll give you my sun if you can stop being sick.” At that moment I just start laughing and I gave him a big hug. Afterwards, my family came over and they were so nice to me. They gave me food, flowers, and everything that I could possibly imagine. My dad kept asking me, “Do you need something? Do you need to go to the bathroom? Are you hungry?” He didn’t leave me alone for two seconds but it didn’t bother me, I thought it was really nice.

It was a really big change! I was really impressed to see that the people that had been so nasty with me, were now being so nice and showing me that they do in fact care about me. This change made me realize how important it is to forgive. I needed to take an extra step and forgive myself first though. I

had been so selfish and thought that nothing was my fault when in fact everything was my fault. Not only did I learn to forgive others but I also learned to forgive myself for all of my mistakes. I realize that it wasn’t right the way my friends and family were treating me, but that I had to take the initiative and let go of the past. If I hadn’t taken that first step, I don’t think I would be as happy as I am today.

I always say God knows when it’s the right time and if you get a second chance, take it! If you aren’t able to forgive others, you won’t be able to forgive yourself. I believe this to be true no matter what the situation. I have forgiven all the people that hurt me before and I have given them all a second chance.

It really helped me feel better and I realized what comes around goes around. This time it was my turn, but you never know when it’s going to be your turn or someone else’s for that matter. Making the right choices and forgiving others can make you one of the happiest people in the world. That’s how I’m feeling right now, blissful.

I can even promise you that if at this moment you’re feeling like you’re worthless, just let it go because you’re not. No matter what someone has said to you, just forget about it so you can understand just how amazing I feel.

bush's fence.

  1. would you give the bush administration the money for finish the fence?

  • i wouldn't give the money to the administration, because i think that Mexicans have the same right as everybody else to come to United States. maybe the solution is to approve the immigration but probably put a limit on the Mexicans or something like that.

and anyway they only have a little space in the fence so i don't think it would be a problem to take the money that they have save from the past and finished, but i would never give my money knowing that they're separating cultures or in an other way being races, because its only in the Mexican border it's not like they're trying to separate the Cubans or Dominicans or all the rest of the people that its trying to move to United States as well.

Anyway, who is going to make sure that even with the huge fence the Mexicans are going to stop? human beings are known for make new ideas.

Illegal ways. i think its no true or right, because i can say that more that the 40% that are immigrants are illegal and they're not necessary Mexicans. And if we look in the terrorism its not only cause for Mexicans and terrorism its people that have papers and visas as well.

Chapter 3.

The Case Against Chores.

· Question for Active Reading.

1. What experience did smiley have that change her believes about chores?

· The experience that she had when she was young was that she never was forced or really tell to do the chores that she was suppose to do. They always tell her but in the end her mom or the housekeeper was the one who end do in it.

In paragraph number four she specifies how she didn’t move a finger in her house, how everybody was cleaning after her and how every time after she came back from school her bed was already made.

The impact would be if she put that in paragraph number one. Explain everything and how she was raised. Probably in that moment I wouldn’t take it as offensive as i did, because before she said all this she explains how chores should be taken or do. If u does it does it right and chores are the beginning for all good workers.

2. How smiley supports her argument?

· In the part of the text when she says: “Good work is not the work we assign our children but the work they want to do” seriously if that was my mom! I would play with her so much! She doesn’t have any authority. Really her house looks like a mess.

She’s trying to put the audience against the chores, and really that’s not going to work. And really instead of changing my mind she is making me upset, of how stupid she manages the chores in her head, but everybody has different ways to think.

3. How does she use the rhetorical questions to appeal the reader?

· Whit her questions she tries to make think and do some reflections about chores like I the question “would you really want to feel loved primarily because you’re the one who gets the floors mopped?” That question it’s really pathetic!! Seriously! I think she is the only one who takes the chore mopping! Like a way to get affect from her mom! But well, she got her point make you think about it, even if you don’t agree, with what she’s trying to say or prove.

· Question for Thinking Critically.

1. How does the concept dualism with dominance by Stephen Jay apply to Smiley’s description for chores?

· “Reversing Established Orders”, an order was: go and clean your room. But she knew that even if she doesn’t do it, her mom or whoever, was going to do it for her. And we all know that chores are mandatory at least in my family and some others that I know they are. But in this case she point at something that says “good work is not the work that we assign children but the work they want to do” right there she is reversing a order! Chores you most do! But she puts it like if u want do it, if u don’t just leave it, some one else will do it for you. That’s wrong!! I totally disagree with that.

2. Starling analogy. What is it? Do you agree? How Eli Sharp respond to it?

· Her analogy was comparing the stable with her room. She did all the chores in the stable or let’s say the work to do in there but she didn’t do her CHORES in her room. Why? I don’t know. Do I agree no! But if you think about it! Do you think that if her mom told her to go to the stable and do chores over there but no in her room, do you think because her mom call them chores she would do it and prefer to do the ones in her room? I do think so. She is everything about “Reversing Established Orders”. Eli responds almost the same way I did. Really upset and kind of concern how someone can take the chores is such a bad way. No in the way that they are bad and sometimes uncomfortable to do, in the way that she thinks everybody can do it for you and you do what ever you want. And how you can compare your room with a stable that’s crazy! And if think about it and if you read the entire thing she did? And if u think in the only 3 things she had to do in her room, you would think she is crazy and she really does what ever she wants to do. Everything for “Reversing Established Orders”

3. What are the similarities between smiley’s and Dillard’s? What arguments do both have to encourage curiosity and independence? Do you agree?

· They are similar in that their parents didn’t pay attention or didn’t care of what they did or not do. And no matter what was it the parents always did everything the child asks for.
They both want you to be curious and independent and I don’t have a problem in how Dillard explains and tell us how to do it. But in the way smiley did. It really upset me. Probably because she was going in the opposite way of how my parents told me to. But Dillard only wants you to explore and know more about stuff and no matter if you parents don’t care don’t make that stop you to do what you think it’s right and interesting. I do really agree with her but smiley makes me really upset and angry, just because she is just a mess.

Journal # 2

I BELIEVE.

· God is god because he remembers.
· I’ am not my body.

1) What makes the essays compelling?

· Their names are something that I would read! It really caught my attention; after I read them I realize I was right.I really identify myself with the text And u don’t necessary have to read something to know if is good or your going to feel satisfy. Sometimes if u identify yourself with the name, and u feel that it goes with you, you know your going to like the text.

2) What kind of stories do they use to showcase they believes?

· They use real life stories. Everything that they remember about their life or something that really impact and they can’t forget about it. Like “God is God Because He Remembers” he tells us about how he was in prison and all the days that he had to wait to get out and tell the stories to the world. Or how in “I Am Not My Body” she tell us about her little arm and that’s why she was feeling frustrated when on T.V she used to see all this girls with perfect bodies. As you can see everything its around their own life’s
And in the end they know that God its there and he knows how everything is done.

3) What is the tone of each essay and how is it achieved?

· The tone of the essays I chose are reflective and thankful, because they want u to think about how good it‘s your life, and how to be thankful for the way you are.

4) How the essays are similar how they are different?

· Similar: the conclusion on both is that God is always there no matter what and that everything that happens, happens because is a lesson or a part of life, which you take in the right way or in the wrong. The essays show you and want you to think how to be thankful for all the things you have and how to take a hard time and deal with it, because in the end everything it’s going to be fine

· Different: its two different people, with different points of view ,different stories and conclusions.

Writing Is Not a McDonald's Hamburger

“Writing Is Not a McDonald’s Hamburger”

Questions for Active Reading.

· I think the purpose of the writing was to tell the young, that when they’re learning from scratch how to do write in the correctly way. They have to patient and take their time. And like it said in one phrase “Take it slow. Just let yourself write for a while. Learn what that id about”. “Writing is a whole lifetime and a lot of practice”.

· The audience that she was trying to communicate was the people that are trying to learn how to write and get their ideas together in the right way. I think in her mind was the purpose to indentify the points or steps to be a good writer. And the audience that I don’t think it would benefit is the people that already have habits to write right the way. She try to put the new writers in a way that they work slow and think before they write, but no forcing the words to come out. Just wait till they come.

· Her subject it’s being patient with your writing and her attitude is to positive “trust the force of your own voice. Naturally, it will evolve a direction and a need for one. But it will come from a different place than your need to be an achiever”.
Questions for Thinking Critically.

· She thinks writing is religious because “ It split you open and softens your heart toward the homely world”. With this phrase I would think her religious may be experience, she express a lot of emotion when she says this. so I guess it would be that. I guess I do agree on her definition because in one part she says “You have to let go everything, try at a simple beginning with simple words to express what you have inside”. “Allow yourself to be awkward you are stripping yourself”. I really identify religious with that because when you’re in front or communicating with God you have to let go everything, give him your problems and the entire thing that you know he can take care of. And you have to make yourself look awkward when you’re talking to him no matter what the people says.

· One time when I felt I was “In flow” was when I and a group of students in Colombia were doing an acting performance. I was feeling confident and really sure that everything was going to be amazing! I can identify that as a flow, because I was feeling good, I was letting everything go according to the plan. Flow to me its like letting everything go in the way it should, no forcing nothing to happen, just let it go.

· The metaphor about the” McDonald hamburger” I really can get it. But if I put it in my way of thinking it would be that a McDonald hamburger cooks really quick and writing shouldn’t be that way writing takes time and has a process just like the McDonald I would say that’s the only think they have in common. And my own metaphor would be:

· An orange tree takes time to give oranges, but if you’re patient and take care of it your tree would be impressive. It’s just like writing. You have to start from scratch, and then when you’re ready and you practice (take care of it) you can give your fruits, and when you show them everybody its going to be impress of the work your done.

Critical Thinking, thoughtful writing #1

Questions for Active Reading.

1.
What do I think was Powell purposes writing this, and what was in he’s mind?

· On first place he was trying to explain how was he’s career and the development that he had while he was in NY, and all the good things that he always had at that time, so I guess in that moment he was thinking how successful he’s life was. But after the Coronel Bookhart call him and told him that in the moment that he find himself in Georgia everything was going to be totally different because Georgia wasn’t NY, at that moment I bet he was feeling frustrated and kind of confuse. When he finally got there he realizes what the Coronel was trying to say to him Racism! I can say that at that moment he was felling really uncomfortable and out of place. But even that he had problems for having color skin, it didn’t stop him for make his dreams come true, and still thinking about himself the same way he used to. He was trying to show how different places have different rules but it doesn’t matter how different it is, you can always make things come true if you believe in yourself like he did.

· I think he was trying to show this to all type of readers, because racism its not only affecting mature or young people only, it involves everybody in the world. And I would recommend this to everybody. Because it’s really something that at one point the entire world has to let go. Everybody is the same no matter what type of color, culture, habitat, we’re the same thing and we’re all in one world.

· Powell has all my respect. He looks like an amazing person, some one that doesn’t let no one get on he’s way and always hits forward no matter what! I hope and wish to be like him. Really strong and always looking straight, never putting the head down. Really impressive.
Questions for Thinking Critically.

· Yes I remember. One time I had a problem with racism. I’m Spanish and white Americans tend to have problems with that and I’m sorry if I hurt some ones feeling but they really have a problem with everything that it doesn’t look like them. Anyway. They were really rude because my English wasn’t as fluid as it is now, and I accept that still needs some work, but hey I only have a year and a half in here and I think I’m doing pretty well. But they don’t care! they judge no matter what. In the beginning was really tuff, but after I got used to it I just don’t care anymore, ad like we say in Colombia if u judge or criticize some one else is because you don’t feel good with yourself even if u don’t feel that way.

· I think he did the same think I did. Just ignore and keep looking straight no matter what other people say. And like he said in one part of the text: “I was not going to let myself become inferior, and I was not going to let anybody make me believe I was. I was not going to allow someone else’s feelings about me become my feelings about myself!” That’s my favorite part and that’s what I’m going to follow. Because that phrase it really gets to my heart.

· I do agree with him with the ethnical diversity.

1. We may be for different countries but we still humans.
2. We’re all human beings like it or not.
3. We are diverse but that doesn’t mean that we cant life together
4. God made us the same, probably with different color and different eths but we still one.

Letter to a Friend

In the moment my firends from colombia figure out that i was moving to united states for the rest of my life, they were really frustrated and sad.
after a couple hours all my friends gave me every type of letter that you can ever imagine.
it was different kinds, like ones with picuters, others only with leters, just saying how much they loved me, others with cartoons it was amazing!!! it really caught my attention!.
In that moment i felt like the president, no kidding;I felt like i was the most important person in the whole world, it was amazing!! and really, come on! if u get something like i did u have to give a feed back. because if u give something to someone that u love, u would expect to get somethig back from that person. and of course thats what i did.
I gave each of my friends a letter to show them how much i love them and how much i will miss them.
Each of my letter's were totally different to each other. but with the same genre. Lovely and friendly!! with alot of emotional moments that we had together.
I didn't want to talk to them and just give them a hug and a little kiss,
because those things you can forget about really quick, but if you give a letter; That's something that u can save all the time.
In the moment that you pull them out you can read over and over and think about the moment that person gave it to you.

I try to put together all the special moments that we had together like parties, boys, lies, parents, everything that we had in common.
like that everytime they read it they can remember the good moments and the time that i was there to do all that stuff with them.

I was really sad in the moment i gave the letters to them. they were all crying and hugging each other. they even read parts of the letter at loud like that we all can hear what i write and we can laugh together.
I was happy at the same time. i was really happy to see that i made my point. which wasn't to make them sad, but to make them realize that am still being a friend , just in a long distance.

After everything happen and i moved down here we still talking and we still being friends. so thats a good thing that proves that friendship can last for ever.

before i knew about the rhetorical situation i used to write just because I had to do it without a knowledge, and it was without a point, because, I wasnt thinking about the witer, topic, or the attention of the writer, it was without a purpuse, but now that i know the rhetorical situation my next letter or the next thing I would write, It would have a consistence and a real topic that It's going to get the attention of the audience.

Rhetorical situation Its a way to find things more interesting if you want to put it that way. because knowing that you have a topic an audience and a context that its going to call attention it makes you feel more interest in reading. knowing this everybody can wirte.

In The News #1

The Olympics.
sometimes human being talk without thinking, or they just say stuff without knowing how it feels. an in the case of the Olympics when the athletes were taking this type of drugs to make them relax and concentrate more in their work, people took it offensive and they didn't want them to take the pills or whatever type of drug they were taking.
its like when people cant sleep, they take this pills to make them sleep but that doesn't mean that they're talking them as a drug they take them because they know its going to make them sleep.
people don't realize that no everybody its the same way, people take things different all the time we don't think the same way!! we are humans we are different in the way we think, just let it be. and relax.
drugs are not always drugs.
